I don’t know which song I like the best from French band Yuksek. They’re all insanely good. This ones from their 2011 album, Living on the Edge of Time. Just let it take you.
I love it when I hear a song on the radio while driving, and manage to remember it’s title by the time I get home. This is from French band M83, and is taken from their 2011 album ‘Hurry Up We’re Dreaming’. Kind of synthpop, dream pop and indietronic all mushed into one. Music genres names are hard to keep up with these days, ehh. This is ‘Midnight City’. Enjoy!
Purity Ring’s ‘Fineshrine’ from their 2012 debut album, Shrines. Interesting little piece, not 100% what its about, but its a good sound nonetheless. Lyrics are a tad savage, but it sort of comes off more romantic than horrific. It’s weird, it’s wonderful, and it’s Canadian.
For those who watched London’s Opening Ceremony, you will have heard this. This is an amazing collaboration between UK electro-group ‘Underworld’, profoundly deaf percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, and the Pandemonium Drummers. A modern symphony to the standard of Mozart or Beethoven. Listen to the entire 17 minutes, its well worth it.
‘The Look’ from Metronomy’s 2011 album, The English Riviera. English retro at its finest. Nice video clip as well.
The perfect chill-out music. From Little Dragon’s 2009 album Machine Dreams, comes ‘Feather’. Out of this world. Relax dammit!
Going back to 2007 here, with Melbourne’s own Midnight Juggernauts. From their debut album Dystopia, Into the Galaxy was an instant hit for the band. The synths are freakin’ amazing! Definitely a bit of David Bowie in there as well. Interestingly, they made two videos clips for Into the Galaxy. Don’t know why. This is the latter of the two. Enjoy.
